On September 11th our family particpated in the 9th Annual International Race for Research to benefit the Progeria Foundation. The Patient Family Housing Program had an organized team for this race since we work closely with the families whose children were born with this extremely rare disease and are participating in a clinical trial at Boston Children's Hospital. Progeria is a rare, fatal genetic condition characterized by an appearance of accelerated aging in children. Progeria has a reported incidence of about 1 in 4 - 8 million newborns. It affects both sexes equally and all races. Below are some pictures from the race...it was an incredible day that we were all very proud to be apart of!
From left, Casey, Ana, myself & Sam, and Caroline...all getting ready to start the race!
Craig joined us in this picture, although he looks a bit distracted :)
Craig ran the race (and placed in the top 10 in his age group!) while Sam and I walked - he finished the race with us after his run.
Sam & Harry (our friend's puppy) ending the race - Harry needed a break!
